As Vice President of Acquisitions and Commercial Real Estate at The Menkiti Group, Don specializes in leasing, dispositions and tenant representation, providing advisory services across the firm’s DMV portfolio. He also leads engagements with public and private clients, strategic acquisitions and dispositions, portfolio management, and development/construction advisory.  Don’s expertise spans office, multifamily, hospitality and mixed-use assets, with a track record of unlocking value through innovative approaches such as Opportunity Zone investments, community development incentives, and repositioning underutilized properties.

Prior to joining The Menkiti Group, Don began his career with JLL’s Public Institutions team, supporting public-private partnership transactions for government, education, and nonprofit clients. He also has experience with Host Hotels & Resorts, the nation’s largest lodging REIT, focusing on acquisitions and portfolio capital expenditure strategy. He also previously served for nearly a decade on the DC Real Property Tax Appeals Commission, where he chaired valuation panels for office and hotel assets.

Don went on to lead acquisitions for Capital City Real Estate and manage real estate portfolio strategy for Howard University. In addition to representing numerous tenants and nonprofits in advisory roles, he gained landlord representation experience with Summit Commercial Real Estate in DC, leasing an office portfolio valued at over $200 million. His work has also included partnering with Redbrick LMD on transformative mixed-use and Opportunity Zone developments with long-term neighborhood impact. Don’s background includes experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC), and Industrial Revenue Bonds, giving him deep exposure to incentive-based financing and development initiatives.

Don holds a master’s degree in real estate with a concentration in Finance and Development from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Economics from Morehouse College. A graduate of Gonzaga College High School and a native Washingtonian, he is deeply committed to advancing equitable growth in his hometown. 

He is a family-first professional, married with three children, and actively supports the DC community in multiple capacities. In addition to his real estate work, Don is an entrepreneur with interests and successes in the music industry. He remains guided by a commitment to the triple bottom line and is committed to transforming lives, careers and communities through real estate.
